In an article I once read, a musician (maybe Jimi Hendrix?) was quoted as saying that “music is a wave”. Meaning, it is not still but rather, is intertwined with time, its form changing with every split second.
Drawing is a wave, too. It also travels through time, transforming with every small stroke. The difference is that you must travel through time with a piece of music to experience it. With a finished drawing, the action may be long gone, but the evidence of its movement remains fixed on the page. The key is to not become too focused on this final state, but rather the steps along the way.
