These are small vignettes of animals that came from rough pencil thumbnails in my sketchbook. I look up reference photos and then make rough sketches, trying to change and exaggerate the proportions or pose. Sometimes I will draw these from my head and then seek reference later to correct details and anatomy. Then I add a simplified shapes around the subjects with a hint of the environment. These are finished in Photoshop, with some digital brushes I made and acrylic monoprint and paper textures scanned and added throughout. Click the thumbnails to see a larger version of each image.
