This is a whimsical cityscape that could be used (with subject matter adjustments) for kid’s publishing, product designs such as puzzles, skateboard graphics, etc. I began this as an isometric pencil drawing in my sketchbook and then scanned and finished it in Photoshop. When working up an image such as this, I start with a line drawing, add a grayscale value study on top, and then colorize it. Throughout the process, adjustments are made to the building heights and element sizes to avoid odd intersecting edges and ensure that everything fits together in a pleasing way. I then add hand made acrylic monoprint and paper textures into the painting using Photoshop adjustment layers.
